This Summer 2008 issue featured an eight-acre Lakewood estate, a multi-year collaboration between owner and landscape architect. The 1939 O’Neil Ford house “looked like a haunted house” when the owner first saw it, overrun with privet and bamboo. “It’s not like there’s any grand plan,” the homeowner says, but “when he (Rolston) is inspired, he’s really brilliant and he’s come up with some really wonderful solutions.”
